Virat Kohli launches India’s first cafe inspired book

Virat Kohli at the launch of Comfort foodIndia’s first café-inspired cookbook ‘Comfort Food’ was launched by Café Delhi Heights in association with Om Books International. The book has been co – authored by Michael Swamy and Mughdha Savkar. Amidst family and friends, ‘Comfort Food’ was unveiled by India’s star cricketer and heart throb, Virat Kohli. In his usual charming manner, he shared his experience of the food he has been fond of in Delhi Heights and how now since he cannot eat whatever he wants because of his diet regime, he is sent healthy food by Delhi Heights whenever he is in town.

The Cafe Delhi Heights is a chain of extremely popular restaurants, spread across Delhi. The book takes its inspiration from the eclectic mix of cuisines, served here, from all over the world, alongwith their offerings. The book is a tribute by Vikrant and Sharad Batra to their mother, Mrs. Usha Batra. As both the brothers put it in their words, “We sincerely wish that with this book we will able to fulfil our mother’s vision of people practising her recipes in every household which lists 80 easy-to-make recipes.”

A beautiful hard-bound publication by Om Books International, ‘Comfort Food’ is the first ever café inspired book in India by a restaurant chain. As Ajay Mago, publisher Om Books International, comments, “There is a story to Comfort Food. As a publisher, I have acquired many cookbooks over the years but I always wanted to get to the bottom of the house specials of well-known food chains in the country. I first discussed the idea with Sharad and Vikrant Batra of Café Delhi Heights and they were game for it. Sharing house secrets is an act of generosity and Comfort Food is full of such acts.”
