Terra chips: Gluten free indulgence

terra-chips-exotic-vegetablesWe all love to snack, anytime and anywhere. These are our saviour in the times of need and if you can get hold on a snack that is not just super tasty but gluten-free then nothing like it. Cocktail parties, group studies, kitty parties or general get-togethers, chips always find a way into all these places and several more occasions. I recently tried the Exotic vegetable chips by TERRA and one word to describe my experience is ‘different’.

The Original Vegetable Terra Chips

Born in New York almost two decades ago, Terra Chips are the brainchild of chefs Dana Sinkler and Alex Dzieduszycki. In general, we all relate potatoes with chips with a variety of seasonings but Terra brings to you chips made from real slices of different exotic root vegetables such as Yuca, Parsnip, Taro, Batata and Sweet Potato. They also make potato chips, but only from naturally blue potatoes that are rich in antioxidant, anthocyanin.

As soon as I opened the packs, I was in awe with the burst of colours, textures and aromas. It really is nothing short of an adventure even before you take your first bite. What I liked about Terra Chips is that they have retained the original texture and colour of the vegetables, unlike the normal potato chips we eat otherwise. Moderate seasoning helps preserve the actual flavour of the veggies. I tried three variants; Blue Potato, Original root veggies and root veggies with Mediterranean flavours. I could easily identify sweet potato from other veggies because of the distinctive flavour. So, if you are up for something different, then order Terra Chips for a perfect crunchy snack.

The blue potato chips are perfectly shaped and sliced so much so you can garnish them the way you want. I added some chopped onion and tomato with a coriander leaf on top of it. It not only looked tempting but also enhanced the flavour. Initially, you might take some time to get your taste buds accustomed to these chips but once you start eating them you will not go back to the usual potato ones.

Priced between Rs 350 to Rs 395, all the variants of Terra Chips are made with Sea Salt which means they are less on sodium content as well. You can buy them at, Big Basket, Nature’s Basket and FoodHall.
