Product Review – The Moms Co. Natural Foot Cream

Moms CoThe Moms Co. ( is one of the new entrants in the category of brands that believe in organic, toxin-free products. But there is a difference. Actually, make that two. First, it is helmed by a mother of two, Malika Sadani (who is an engineer and MBA by education, Malika worked as a banker before quitting her job to become a full-time mom). This means that the problems that the products wish to address are real – a mom has faced them and decided to do something about them. Secondly, at The Moms Co., the basic tenet is that the products be made ‘with love and without compromise’. I read about the brand and realised that they create the safest natural formulations that are certified toxin-free. So I readily agreed to try out some of their products.

In this article, I am going to tell you about my experiences of their Natural Foot Care cream, for starters. There are other products (that I will review in the posts to follow), but being the mother of a ten-year-old, I live my life on roller-skates. It is my feet that not only cry out for attention – all the time – but are also tough (literally and figuratively) to impress! So that’s where I wanted to begin.

The branding on the 50gm tube (priced at Rs 245) claims that the product provides relief to swollen ankles and feet. It sounded believable – considering it contains Argan oil, Natural Vitamin E and Peppermint Essential Oil. But having been a mom for a decade now, I am just like any other mom – not easily swayed by claims. So I set out to gauge how much talk did this baby walk.

It is important to list out the key ingredients (in no particular order and some of their benefits):
i. Argan Oil – an effective, all-natural moisturiser, it’s rich in vitamin A and vitamin E. It is also packed with antioxidants, omega-6 fatty acids and linoleic acid. Basically, this is the holy grail of natural moisture for the skin

ii. Glycerin – Glycerin attracts moisture to the skin – so it is a humectant. It is also an emollient, making skin not only moist, but soft and supple to the touch – ideal for a coarse skin on the heels.

iii. Shea butter – a skin superfood is naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F. It offers UV protection and provides the skin with essential fatty acids and the nutrients necessary for collagen production. So it smoothes skin and heals inflammation.

iv. Extra Virgin Olive oil – packed with anti-ageing antioxidants and hydrating squalene, making it superb for hair, skin, and nails.

v. Sweet Almond Oil – nourishes skin and reverses ageing because of the presence of generous amounts of monounsaturated fatty acids, vitamin E, potassium, proteins, zinc, and a number of other vitamins and minerals.

vi. Tocopherol – basically Vitamin E – encouraging skin healing and cell regeneration.

vii. Peppermint Essential Oil – gives a cooling sensation and soothes sore muscles. Aromatherapy calls it a natural energiser. No wonder my tired achy feet loved it!

As instructed (by the writing on the product), I took a pea-sized amount for each foot and massaged it onto clean and mildly scrubbed-with-pumice feet in circular motions – concentrating more on the heels and arch and also a little on the lower ankles. This I did right before bed, after my bath. Since it is winter and my skin does get extra dry, I had to use just a week bit more of the product. Now I wanted to gauge the full effects of this product, so I did not put my night socks on.

Here is what I noticed after first application – As I was massaging the cream on, despite the ingredients that are considered heavy moisturisers, the cream did not feel oily or sticky at all! It just glided onto and into the skin, actually facilitating the smooth circular movement. Even after massaging the cream for a good minute, it did not completely ‘dry out’ – that strange feeling you get as though your skin was so parched that it absorbed all the product. My feet felt ‘watered’ and supple. They didn’t shine with grease, but they looked radiant. Also, the mild fragrance and tingling owing to the peppermint oil felt good. I so wish it lasted 😉

I did not realise I had cream on when I woke up to get some water – and instinctively put my bare feet on the floor. No sticky feeling then too. So far, so good.

The next morning, when I woke up, my feet looked the same as they do after a pedicure. Clean and soft to touch.
I used this cream for ten days before writing this review, and I wish I had clicked a ‘before’ picture because I am delighted with the ‘after’. I must confess that not just before bedtime, I also apply a dab of the cream whenever I am having a particularly active day.

Thanks to the Natural Foot Care Cream, I can be fresh as a daisy after spending the day on roller-skates! Where are my party shoes!
