I had a difficult pregnancy. Warm showers helped me – as they helped my colicky baby when he was born. I would often put in essential oils into the bath water for him. But over time, the pampering scales turned obviously more in favour of my son than me. So when I got this gorgeous ‘nest’ of products from The Moms Co (www.themomsco.com), I was delighted to find a Natural Body Wash in it.
So this is the second product that I am reviewing from my The Moms Co. goodie box.
First and foremost, the product does not contain any toxins parabens, sulphates, SLS/ SLES, mineral oils, phenoxyethanol or even any synthetic fragrances. This already made me of the sensitive-skin-so-prone-to-redness-and-rashes so happy!
Secondly, the clear, faint-orange hued Natural Body Wash (Rs 348 for 200ml) contains mild coconut-based cleansers that restore the skin’s natural oils while cleaning gently. This means no itchy or flaky skin. The best bit is the adds ons:
1. Pro-Vitamin B5 – that enhances moisturizing. This provitamin, when applied topically, is transformed into vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), which has natural broad abilities to moisturize, soothe, heal and regenerate the skin. As a humectant, provitamin B5 stabilizes the skin barrier function, reducing the amount of water lost through the skin. By applying a provitamin B5 formulation to the skin, you will not only increase its hydration but improve its softness and elasticity, making provitamin B5 ideal for the treatment of dry, scaly or rough skin.
2. Ginger Essential Oil – that apparently eases morning sickness (where was this product when I was struggling with keeping my morning tea down!?). This essential oil contains Zingibain, a component that has anti-inflammatory properties and treats muscle aches and headaches, among other things. Ginger essential oil also helps with bloating, swelling, pain and discomfort.
3. Orange Essential Oil – that gives you this genuine burst of freshness when you shower and is a potent mood-uplifter. But more than anything else, this ingredient is important because it serves as a detoxifier, boosts immunity and is very good for maintaining healthy and smooth skin.
As instructed (by the writing on the product), I pumped it out onto a loofah. Initially, I pumped out three squeezes but realised two would have been enough. A nice two-minute scrubbing produced a generous lather that was also rinsed out easily. Here is what I noticed after first application – The clear gel of the body wash is neither too runny nor too dense. The consistency is just right I think it was the ginger essential oil that was responsible for the warm and tingly feeling. My skin felt squeaky clean, though a tad dry. But I attributed the dryness to the overdose of the product maybe ;).
I used the Moms Co. Body Wash twice a week before writing this review and during this period, my skin seems positively more radiant. I also feel I do not have to bathe in moisturizers because it does make the skin supple.
Extra points for the lingering sense of citrusy freshness – even the fragrance lasts at least two to three hours and my bathroom smells like an orange orchard!
